Dr. Steven Milden
Graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He started the Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital in 1994 and is still owner of the practice. A central New Jersey native, he received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is married and the proud parent of three sons and one daughter. He presently shares his home with two dogs and one cat. When he is not at the veterinary hospital, he enjoys coaching soccer and watching his children’s sports endeavors.
Dr. Dena Balsama
Graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, University of London, in 2000. Prior to this, she received her undergraduate degree in biology from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. A native of south New Jersey, she joined the Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2001. She is married and shares her home with two daughters, two rescued pit bulls, Buffy the Frenchie, three cats, two birds, twelve chickens, ducks and a beehive! In her free time, she stays busy by baking, gardening, running, and supporting her daughters' theatrical endeavors. Dr. Balsama is a Boston qualified marathon runner and a member of the Mullica Hill Women's Triathalon Club.
Dr. Julie D’Alessandro
Dr. Julie D'Alessandro graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been a grateful member of Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital since 2004. Along with treating and helping dogs and cats, Dr. Julie has a special interest in exotic species such as rabbits, reptiles, ferrets and small rodents. Outside of caring for pets, she loves spending time with her family, baking, and reading.
Dr. Hannah Frank
Graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. A native of Altoona, Pennsylvania, she joined the practice after graduation. Dr. Frank currently shares her home with her husband, four cats, and two dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking, and watching movies.
Dr. Margot Thompson-Watkins
Graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Animal Science from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL. Dr. Thompson-Watkins now resides in New Jersey, and she joined Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital in June 2015. She is married with three children, including a set of fraternal twins, and she shares her home with two dogs, a cat, two parrots, and fish. When she is not caring for patients, she enjoys teaching and traveling. She is also very active in church-related activities as a Eucharistic Minister, and minister to the sick and homebound.
Dr. Joshua Brunermer
Born and raised in Mullica Hill, Dr. Joshua Brunermer attended Virginia Tech for a B.S. in Biochemistry, after which he continued his education and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. He returned to Mullica Hill and began practicing at Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital after receiving his DVM. He currently lives with his loyal mutt Jameson, who shares his love for hiking trails and outdoor events. During his free time, Dr. Brunermer enjoys exploring new recipes to cook, reading, and traveling to the beach.
Dr. Kate Byrne
Dr. Kate Byrne completed her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, then earned her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Following graduation, she completed a year-long rotating small animal internship in Southern California, then practiced small animal medicine in Ventura, CA. Originally from central New Jersey, Dr. Kate joined Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2018. She shares her home with one talkative cat and in her spare time she enjoys swimming, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Jara Gruber
Dr. Jara Gruber graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Originally from central New Jersey, she earned her undergraduate degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of Delaware. Dr. Gruber lives with her cat, Pebbles, who is trained to perform tricks such as "sit" and "paw". When not attending to patients, she enjoys catching up with friends and family, playing soccer, and going to the beach.
Dr. Lena Sena
Originally from central New Jersey, Dr. Sena received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2015. She then went on to graduate from The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Graduating as a Mixed Animal major, Dr. Sena has special interest in treating pet pigs in addition to the everyday cat and dog.
Dr. Sena joined Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital immediately following graduation. She currently lives in the area with her senior boxer, Minnie. During her free time she enjoys saltwater fishing, cooking Italian food, and trying out new baking recipes.
Dr. Phoebe Miller
Grew up in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. She attended Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania for her undergraduate degree majoring in Spanish while also completing veterinary requirements. She attended veterinary school at University of Missouri and graduated in May 2020. She currently resides in West Chester and has one cat named Charlie. Her hobbies include gardening, horseback riding, drawing, and being with her family.
Dr. Erica Snihur
Growing up in central New Jersey, Dr. Snihur aspired to be a veterinarian at a young age. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Drexel University. From there, she worked as a scientist at GlaxoSmithKline performing pharmaceutical research. She then went on to obtain her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.
Dr. Snihur's professional interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and preventative care. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association (NJVMA). In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, watching documentaries, and being outdoors.
