Pet Loss and Bereavement
Support Group

Saying Goodbye

Unfortunately, we are no longer offering this service indefinitely. We are currently looking for other options. Please stay tuned for updates.

Losing a pet is like losing a family member. It is never easy but you are not alone. We are excited to announce that Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital will be hosting our own Pet Loss and Bereavement Support Group.

We are offering the support group to anyone in need who may benefit from this free, special counseling. Delaware Valley is fortunate enough to have Shannon Murphy, CVT, VTS (Cardiology) a certified Pet Loss and Bereavement Counselor through the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) since 2015, volunteering her time and services to us. Here are a few words from her:

Losing an animal family member, or going through the anticipation of losing an animal family member due to incurable illness, can feel as though we are alone with few to understand what we are going through. Disenfranchised grief describes a grief not readily understood by most, and most times when we lose a pet it can be one of the loneliest, scariest, and saddest things we have to deal with in our lives. Our once monthly free pet bereavement group meetings work to battle disenfranchised grief so you know you are not alone. Sharing with others and learning strategies to navigate your grief not only helps you during your difficult time, it can help you find a way to honor the love and the memories you have.

Please RSVP to manager@devalvet.com or call the office to speak with reception at 856-241-1100 so we can plan ahead for refreshments or if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing everyone!
